The first seven chapters of Leviticus are something like a "Manual on Sacrifice" to be used by those priests who looked after the daily acts of worship that went on (1) at the Tent of Meeting in the days of the Wilderness wandering, and (2) in the Temple of Jerusalem once king David had made Jerusalem his capital city, and once his son Solomon had fulfilled David's desire to build in it a "house of God".
