About this book

A fascinating account of the rise of Portugal as a colonial power concentrating on the adventurers and naval explorers who pushed the colonial spirit to the fore. From the aggressive inquisitiveness of Henry the Navigator through to the missionary zeal of Francis Xavier the book clearly details the spread of Portuguese and European influence in the East.
