Blitzkrieg unleashed

About this book

"At dawn on Friday 1 September 1939 the Germans launched their land, sea, and air assault on Poland. The world suddenly became aware of the awesome power of Hitler's Third Reich and the limitless and ruthless nature of his ambition. Yet although it directly led to the outbreak of WW2 the campaign has been strangely neglected. A new word (blitzkrieg or lightning war) entered the vocabulary of warfare ... In a month Warsaw fell amid great bloodshed and in six weeks the Poles were defeated ... As this book reveals, atrocities were not just perpetrated by the SS but also by soliders of the Wehrmacht. Blitzkrieg unleashed tells the tragic story of the conquest of Poland from the perspective of the victors, thanks to the author's painstaking research into letters, diaries, unpublished accounts, official documents, and newspapers"--Dust jacket.
