Herodotus tells us in book four chapter five of this history that according to a Scythian tradition under the rule of the three brethren of the lineage of Targitaos, viz. Lipoxais, Arpoxais, and Kolaxais, "there fell down from the sky into Scythia certain implements, all of gold, namely a plough (aporpov), a yoke (suyov), a battle-axe (oayapis), and a bowl (oia n)".
