Whales

About this book

Humpback whales have a clever way of catching fish. First, the giant creatures blow air bubbles that surround a school of fish and force them to huddle in a tight ball. Then the whales dive through the trapped fish—gulping as many as they can. Yet what happens when a whale invents an even better way to catch fish? Scientists found out when they discovered Molson. She is just one of many whales that have amazed the world with their brainpower. From communicating with each other over several miles to finding smart ways to protect their young, the intelligence and ingenuity of these giant deep-sea creatures continue to fascinate people. Whales includes full-color photographs, a habitat map, and real-life anecdotes that will surprise and engage young readers. Whales is part of Bearport’s Smart Animals series.
