About this book

This is the story of a young woman who has a child as a result of rape. Her family arranges her marriage to a much older man. The couple soon immigrate to the U.S from Germany. The story unfolds, describing Elizabeth's many encounters with difficult situations including the loss of her husband in the United States' Civil War. By her strong-will and determination she attempts to overcome all adversities.
