This seminal text on infant and toddler care was released in the US and UK between 1960 and 1968. Its accessible language provided valuable information to young parents while serving the needs of medical students entering pediatric specialities. Despite advances in technology and in medicine in the last 50 years, this book continues to remain viable with no-nonsense information, instruction and advice to patients and practioners alike. Dr. Kenneth Shepard graduated from Duke University Medical School. He served in private practice for 10 years, was a United States Air Force medical officer retiring in 1976 as a Colonel and hospital commander. Between 1976 and 2009 he continued to practice medicine, teach and publish in pediatrics, neonatology, and in adolescent behavioral disorders.
