But now the children and other inhabitants of soutwest Montana aren't safe. Blue Meadows' rancher Charlene Spence is determined to see the children out of harm's way and back among their Amish relatives of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. But she needs Zeph's help and the two begin a long journey east in which they find their relationship deepening. Will they keep their heads, hearts, and lives together long enough to see the journey through?
