Allen Verhey was a renowned ethicists who himself came face to face with death but then recovered from a life-threatening illness a couple of years before he died. The Christian Art of Dying, Verhey's last book, sets out to recapture dying from the medical world. To counter the medicalization of death that is so prevalent today, Verhey revisits the fifteenth-century Ars Moriendi, an illustrated spiritual self-help manual on "the art of dying."
