Just when the world imagined by dreamers throughout human history is within reach, it is slipping through our fingers. Environmental degradation, climate change, the spread of nuclear weapons, and population growth pose urgent risks to human survival. Meanwhile, an epidemic of frustration and alienation has given rise to the Tea Party and the Occupy Wall Street movements.
