African American literature

About this book

"Only works by African American authors are included.... Work by writers of the African Diaspora from countries other than the United States is excluded.... Emphasis is on works published between 1990 and 2003.... Novels are the focus of this book, but short story collections are included when they are significant to the genre. Three types of nonfiction have been included[:] ... life stories ... [i]nspirational nonfiction by black authors ... and ... factual works about African Americans on the frontier."--Introd.
