About this book

Literature and Philosophy: A Guide to Contemporary Debate is an eclectic, wide-ranging collection of essays. Grounded in state-of-the-art cross-disciplinary research, this book explores contemporary debates at the interface between literature and philosophy. It features an impressive and diverse cast of contributors, drawn from a broad spectrum of opinion across both disciplines. The work of leading experts like Andrew Benjamin and Jonathan Ře appears alongside that of newly emerging philosophers and critics. The book brings together a wide variety of schools of thought, from analytic philosophy to postmodern critical theory. It seeks to bridge the artificial divide between Continental and Anglo-American perspectives on the subject. Containing introductory orientations for beginners as well as innovative contemporary scholarship, it maps out the terrain of this lively and often heated dialogue, and provides both a useful overview, and a timely examination of one of the most stimulating interdisciplinary encounters anywhere in the humanities today.
