Imperial cities

About this book

"Imperial cities explores the influence of imperialism in the landscapes of modern European cities. Many cities still display unmistakable signs of their imperial past, not only in their architecture and monuments, but also in the ways in which their identities are constructed by their inhabitants and by international tourists. The contributions to Imperial cities develop new perspectives on the history of imperialism and European urbanism, showing how the form, use and representation of these cities cannot be understood without reference to their place in the wider world order."--BOOK JACKET.
