Masters of the Americas

About this book

"The Dora and Paul Janssen collection brings together some of the finest masterpieces of Pre-Columbian art. Taking us on a journey through the entire American continent, it reveals the extraordinary wealth of its ancient cultures. Prehispanic artists excelled in working with stone, pottery, textiles, feathers, and gold; the result is an amazing kaleidoscope of styles, techniques, and inspirations from every region. With the aid of this publication, readers will discover a world entirely different from our own as well as endlessly fascinating and full of mystery. On display are not only outstanding works of the great civilizations (Olmec, Maya, Aztec, Inca) but also artifacts from lesser-known Pre-Columbian cultures equally deserving of our admiration for the genius of their artists."--Jacket.
