Liturgical Preaching

About this book

Gain insight into the specifics of Lutheran preaching. As Christians gather for worship in a church service, they get more than just a sermon. The sermon is placed within the liturgical context of Scripture readings, hymns, prayers, confession, and other elements of worship. In this book, 12 authors examine ways the sermon relates to the liturgy, the church year, the lectionary, the sacraments, Law and Gospel, hymnody, cultural issues, and more. Liturgical Preaching provides pastors and interested laypeople with a valuable tool to better understand the many aspects of preaching within a Lutheran worship context.
