Officers and gentlemen

About this book

"The leaders who brought the nation through the Civil War & WWI, who built the Panama Canal & secured an American empire in the Pacific -- were often West Pointers. This book contains more than 200 photos that detail the exploits of these officers & the character & methods of the institution that trained them. Selected from the archives of the U.S. Military Acad. & other public & private collections, these images present a unique portrait of Americas heritage. The mood & atmosphere of life at West Point are graphically transmitted through dozens of photos of cadet life. The social & athletic life & visits by dignitaries also receive coverage." -- Publisher.
