Isle of discord

About this book

One of the longest-lasting and most intractable problems in contemporary international politics, the Cyprus question continues to plague the international community. Isle of Discord traces the postwar development of the problem - from the first drive toward internationalization to the outbreak of armed struggle against the British colonial regime - to show how the potential for a peaceful resolution of the conflict was repeatedly and fatefully squandered. A timely profile of this legacy of modern diplomatic history, Isle of Discord identifies the various forces, competing interests, and partisan pressures that helped shape modern-day Cyprus.
