About this book

"In the electrifying tradition of Dean Koontz and Gillian Flynn comes the first contemporary thriller from New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Vicki Pettersson! It's high summer in the Mojave desert, and Kristine Rush and her fiance;, Daniel, are making their journey from Las Vegas to Lake Arrowhead, California. But when Daniel is abducted from a desolate rest stop, Kristine is forced to choose: return home, never to see her fiance; again, or go on alone into the searing Mojave in search of him...and where a killer lies in wait. Now Kristine is racing against time, uncertain if danger lies ahead or behind. The epic journey blazes through the gaudy flash of roadside casinos, abandoned highway stops, and the wilds of hot, stark darkness that hold horrors she never expected to see. Desperate to save her doomed husband-to-be, she must call upon resources she long forgot and go head-to-head against an unpredictable adversary. And she'd better hurry...because she only has twenty-four hours to escape death on the trip of a lifetime"--
