Politics Is Local

About this book

"At a time when many argue that global forces are eroding the distinctive characteristics of local communities, and that the only relevant political activity takes place on the national stage, Carty and Eagles present compelling evidence to the contrary: every local environment has its own political ecology, and grassroots democracy is still alive and well in many constituency trenches." "Politics Is Local is an essential text for upper-level studies in party politics and elections. At the same time, the authors' rigorously empirical approach, grounded in the analysis of statistical data from a wide range of sources, makes it a valuable supplement for introductory methods courses."--Jacket.
