Collected by Daniel Alexander Payne Murray, an employee of the Library of Congress from 1871 to 1923. Among the authors represented are Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Benjamin W. Arnett, and Alexander Crummell.
