In this study, Byzantine novels are examined to understand the literary discourse of the twelfth century. This examination includes the function of the structure and narrative techniques as they appear in several contemporary texts. Literary imitation and the relationship between the actual form and content, and fiction, gender and individual work are also explored in this text about Byzantine literature.
