They were demonstrating for African American voting rights. Outside of Selma the marchers were assaulted by state troopers and deputies. Also presents information on Senator Daniel Webster's famous speech on March 7, 1850 urging sectional compromise on the issue of slavery. Also presents information on slavery in the United States.
