Rula the Candidacy Party

About this book

Rula is a cruel game—naïve players are enticed to play by promises of immense rewards. The entertainment value is the exclusive right of the game’s host, who, like the former Kings, gets to delight in the torment of the players as they struggle to complete their tasks. The host then celebrates their ultimate demise by sending out cleanup “Tersi” crews to eliminate any surviving players to safeguard the secret of the game. Small time newspaper reporter Kate Bennett and her partner Anthony Cruz have been investigating an old jewel heist case from 1980 that they now know is intimately linked to Rula. For some reason, no cleanup crew was sent out that year, so the original players are still alive. One of them, McGuire Tennenbaum, a professional magician, has recently started leaving Kate many clues about the 1980 Rula game, including a journal notebook bearing the initials “CW.” Kate and her partner Anthony Cruz view McGuire’s story as an exclusive news scoop that will make their news careers. The stakes get very much higher when they receive a personal invitation to participate in the present year’s Rula Candidacy Party."The Candidacy Party is an exciting continuation of the series.
