Magical Tome

The outer archives are busy
For an Anglican eavesdropper, Fides et Ratio is a mild-mannered document, decidedly more congenial than Cardinal Ratzinger's commentary on Ad Tuendam Fidem (1998) which reasserted the invalidity of our orders and banned discussion of women in office; certainly less provocative than ARCIC's The Gift of Authority which renewed the offer of papal services to decide crucial controversies on behalf of the whole church with no less authority than that of the ecumenical councils!
