Sinopsis: La historia de "Los muertos" se sitúa en la ciudad de Dublín, la capital de Irlanda, en el año 1904. Dos ancianas celebran un baile y una cena en su casa la noche del 6 de enero. Es el día de los Reyes Magos o de la Epifanía, una festividad católica. La casa está cerca del río Liffey, y delante de un muelle. A la fiesta asisten amigos y familiares, como su sobrino Gabriel, con su mujer Gretta. Los invitados bailan, cantan, hablan y comen. Al terminar, Gabriel descubrirá algo terrible sobre Gretta.
