For the Work of Ministry

About this book

"The role of Nonconformity in British life was of profound significance in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The institutions which educated and formed the Nonconformist ministers had an importance far beyond their size." "The present Northern College in Manchester has incorporated Western College, Bristol; the Yorkshire United Independent College, Bradford; the Lancashire Independent College, Blackburn; and Paton College, Nottingham." "This book illuminates not only the changing nature of ministerial education and the history of the church, but the whole development of Nonconformity in the life and culture of the country."--BOOK JACKET.
