Landor House was built by Dr. William and Ann Johnson in 1693. After the death of Ann Johnson it was rented out and the proceeds used for charitable purposes. Dr. Walter Landor and his wife, Elizaeth Savage, moved into the house around 1774. In 1858 it became a school for girls. Also gives a general history of the surrounding area of the Eastgate.
