Ce volume contient les actes d'un colloque interdisciplinaire (IMEC, Caen, 15-17 septembre 2008) consacré à l'oeuvre de trois linguistes, philologues et historiens de langues et de cultures : Ferdinand Brunot, Sylvain Lévi et Antoine Meillet. Ces auteurs sont reliés par une visée "sociologique" et ethnographique" qui les rattache à la pensée et à l'oeuvre d'auteurs comme Emile Durkheim ou Marcel Mauss ; ils ont participé à un courant de pensée "socio-anthropologique" qui a affecté les sciences humaines, particulièrement en France dans les années 1900-1940.
