About this book

In 1997 publiceerde Anthon Beeke Dutch Posters 1960-1996. This book has since become a collector's item. Since then no overview book on Dutch posters has been published. Time for part 2, according to the young designers Janneke Smale and Omar Saiid, who initiated this publication. For 'Dutch Posters 1997-2017' 150 designers were invited who together submitted 3,500 posters. About 350 of these posters are included in this book. The selection was partly determined by the visual story that is being told, by showing images that reinforce or react to each other together. This selection of twenty years of cultural posters provides a wonderful picture of the development of the Dutch poster. They say something about the time in which we live, about the art we make, but especially about the profession of design. Beeke shows that Dutch poster makers stand in a rich tradition that goes back to makers such as Piet Zwart, Dick Elffers, Willem Sandberg and Wim Crouwel
