Magical Tome

The outer archives are busy
For 40 years Paul Piron has been collecting every scrap of information on Belgian artists from the nineteenth century down to the present. He first published his findings in 1999 in a 1,600-page encyclopaedia covering 23,000 artists. Since then his energy has never flagged in editing, updating and completing the inventory. The result, a Ludion publication, is an impressive reference work in two volumes and with almost 3,000 pages. The new edition includes more than 35,000 painters, sculptors, graphic artists, photographers and ceramists. The publication, also known as "The Piron", is an inexhaustible source of information and is used every day by professionals and art lovers. Over the years the book has become an essential tool for auction houses, galleries, art dealers, museums, libraries and documentation centres.
