Henry Namphy (1932) was a Haitian general who served as President of Haiti from 1986-1988 after the Duvalier dictatorship. Author Gilot traces contemporary political events, the National Council of Government and the problems faced by Namphy to hold the nation together. Gilot has previously published Jean-Claude Duvalier ou l' ingénuité captive and Duvalier l' mal aimé, among others.
