Anyone who really wishes to understand the economic crisis must look at the culture in which it has its roots, the world of money and power in which the one percent of the world's richest citizens live. The elements of the story are abstract. They include ideologies, regulation and deregulation, power structures, complex financial products, greeds, the pliability of politics. It is part through the elusive nature of these elements that things were able to get out of hand.
