Early medicine, from the body to the stars

About this book

"This exhibition, dedicated to tracing the evolution of ancient medicine, is organised around historical, scientific and artistic testimonies of the times. From mythology to the 17th century, encounters with the most diverse influences have woven and enriched the fabric of knowledge....The title of the exhibition...underlines the link between observation and the lived experience of illness, in association with the symbolic and spiritual aspects of Man's universe. From the ancient Greeks to the Arab physicians, from the philosophers to astronomers who defended William Harvey...manuscripts, incunabula and rare editions from the collection of the Bibliotheca Bodmeriana constitute the canvas of the exhibition."--P. 11.
