Latin of Science

About this book

"An anthology of Latin readings present fifteen authors who wrote in Latin and three whose works were translated into Latin. Readings cover eight subject areas from medicine to chemistry. A historical survey sets the context for the readings and a brief essay introduces each author and work. Vocabulary, syntax, and contextual notes facilitate reading the unadapted Latin. For most selections, images drawn from manuscripts, incunabula, and first print editions present the Latin selections as their original readers would have experienced them."--Provided by publisher.
