Nineteenth and early twentieth century European sculpture

About this book

"A Handbook, serving to aid the viewer in assessing, evaluating and collecting these works of art. Included is a series of essays that clarify the aesthetic values germane to sculpture of the period, obscured by twentieth-century notions of “originality.” In addition, this 132-page, hardcover handbook lists casts in a variety of media that were accepted in official exhibitions throughout the nineteenth century. An index of European foundries has been significantly updated since it was last published by the Gallery in 1996." -- Publisher's web site (10.15.13)
