Na de reformatie komt het in handen van rentmeester Gerlacus Verrutius. Ook de volgende eigenaren zijn notabelen, met bekende familienamen als Hora, Van Panhuys en Van Andringa de Kempenaer. Iedere bewoner laat zijn sporen na. De grootste veranderingen ondergaat het pand echter de laatste honderd jaar, wanneer grootschalige uitbreidingen en verbouwingen ervoor moeten zorgen dat de bewoners van het Toevluchtsoord zich op Martini-kerkhof 11 thuis en geborgen voelen.
