The present volume is based on the work of a research seminar conducted at the center for Literary Studies of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1989-1990. The aim of the project was to examine various methods of investigating the overlap between literature and moral philosophy. The editor thanks the participants for having offered their expertise in different fields for the exploration of the vast potentialities of this interdisciplinary study.
