8vo. pp. 76. Original green printed wrappers. The only edition of the dialect play La Buée, facetiously ascribed by ‘Anatole-Oscar Prud’homme’ (i.e. Henri Florent Delmotte) to his ‘illustre’ uncle Joseph Prud’homme (i.e., Delmotte): see the long notice in J.-M. Quérard, Les supercheries littéraires dévoilées; seconde édition, considérablement augmentée, publiée par MM. Gustave Brunet et Pierre Jannet. Paris, 1870, III, c. 268, admiring the production of this ‘édition deluxe’, limited to 160 copies. Delmotte (1798-1836), Chalon’s great influence both for historical studies and canulars, is credited by Chalon’s once-loyal printer Emmanuel Hoyois as the true conceiver of the Fortsas Bibliohoax. See W. Klinefelter, The Fortsas bibliohax, Evanston, IL, 1986, p. 274; F. de Cattalaÿ & C. Sorgeloos, Renier Chalon alias Fortsas. Un érudit malicieux au mitan du XIXe siècle. Morlanwelz, 2008, pp. 10-12, 19-20, 51, 54, 84. From the Chalon-Scheler archive. Click here to view the Johns Hopkins University catalog record.
