The outer archives are busy
First and second of 4 volumes in 8vo. pp. xiii, [1] (blank), 327; pp. [4], 355. A version unauthorized by John Payne Collier of a work originally published in 2 volumes (London 1865, see Bib# 1695388/Fr# 1037 in this collection). The work incorporates all the material contained in Collier's Bridgewater catalogue, 1837 in its main text. There are three copies in this collection. The present has volume 1 and 2 and volume 3 and 4 combined and is in contemporary binder’s cloth. It is ‘one of five copies’ printed on India paper and has a tipped-in slip announcing that seventy-five large-paper and five India paper copies ‘printed in a superior manner [...] may be had of the Publishers.’ See A. & J.
