ABOUT the beginning of the year 1841, I had fallen into a frequent train of thought upon that vexata questio of the origin of evil in the world; and various passages of Scripture, impressed on my memory by habitual reference in the course of an extended life, leading me to expect more information from that high source than from all others, I commenced a searching examination of such parts of the entire Bible as appeared likely to afford it.
