Acquiescence and identification with the aggressor among acculturating Africans, 1959-1960

Data for the study were collected from 1959-1960 in ten counties in the Ankole district of Uganda. The Banyankole sample numbers 68 adult males, while 28 resident adults--male and female--comprise the European sample. Variables from the questionnaire, administered to the Africans and Europeans alike, probe two major areas of interest. A number of questions ask the respondents to compare Africans with Europeans in terms of inherent abilities. A second major portion of the study examines both positive and negative value judgements of the African personality and character.
