In the present study María José Falcón y Tella deals with viewpoints on law from two writers of all time: Cervantes and Shakespeare. After observing the context, life and presence of the legal in Cervantes, the author deals extensively with the Don Quijote de la Mancha, analyzing such issues as the rights and freedoms of the person (thus honor, women, freedom of conscience, anti-Judaism, Moors and Moors, heresy, censorship or the Inquisition), war and peace, the monarchy, the states and the republic; the government and the administration of justice; as well as criminal law, civil law (the will of Alonso Quijano, marriage or civil law of damages), labor law (the remuneration relationship between Don Quixote and Sancho) and so on. The last chapter is devoted to William Shakespeare: his life (legal aspects and correlations with that of Cervantes) and work (his dramas King Lear, The Merchant of Venice and Hamlet, and the madness in them, ending with a comparison between Don Quixote and Hamlet)
