Skotom

About this book

Based on a True Story (The Protagonist-Aloz is real uncle of the author, Azad Kaysadu) For Aloz, born deaf and mute, the world is nothing but the meaningless lip movements of others and the tremors he feels through the soles of his feet. Imprisoned within his own silence, his world begins to darken physically as well following a medical diagnosis: Retinitis Pigmentosa. With each passing year, the disease narrows his field of vision, driving him into a pinhole tunnel toward absolute nothingness. In this decaying universe, Aloz wages a mute struggle for existence against his tracking family, tragic losses, and the toxic pity offered by those around him. SKOTOM maps the psychological anatomy of a man imprisoned within both a physical and spiritual dungeon. It presents the reader with the crushing weight of being human and the burden of having to survive simply because one draws breath. Delivered with an uncompromising realism, it leaves no room for false hope. (Note: This novel is written in English.)
