Sei sonate per cembalo, opera IIda

The outer archives are busy

by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Johann Ulrich Haffner, Johann Wilhelm Stör

About this book

Published by Johann Ulrich Haffner, engraved by Johann Wilhelm Stör. Johann Wilhelm Windter published these sonatas at approximately the same time, using the same plates, but without, in most cases, the table of ornamentation. The lack of the table of ornaments on the Windter, and plate differences (see page 9, II, m. 49, note 4 in bass) suggests it may have been earlier, but this cannot be determined with certainty. See discussion in the Complete works / Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (Packard Humanities Institute), ser. I, v. 1: The "Prussian" and "Württemberg" sonatas, 2015, page xv.
