The art of essay-writing is rare nowadays. This is a collection of nine essays in the best tradition. Although our science has advanced considerably in developing concepts and systems we need from time to time the ideas of an inspiring observer who, not-withstanding his good sociological background, tries to understand the predicament of our society by means of the approach proper to an educated man who is able to communicate in his own language and symbols.
