IN 1875, WHEN JUSTICE WAS HARD TO COME BY, ONE REMARKABLE WOMAN TOOK THE LAW INTO HER OWN HANDS On a grassy hillside beneath the hot Arkansas sun, Rita Gebhart pledged herself to a man she barely knew, a man who would murder her father and shatter her dreams with a single shot. Now her only hope lay in finding the lying scoundrel. Even if it meant braving the perils of Indian territory and the rough and rugged outlaw towns of the West. Yet the real danger would come from an entirely unexpected source. For lawman Strider Hackett had his own score to settle. And when the two crossed paths, the damage would be considerable...to her heart. A fugitive from desire and the treacherous warmth of his kiss, Rita vowed to put a whole country between herself and Strider.
