It's a beautiful June day, the perfect climate for Founder's Day at Budleigh Hall School. But for Howell the weather is in direct contrast to his mood. In a few hours he must tell his parents whether he will further his education at Oxford or begin work at Trowman Chemicals Ltd. Sitting in his room, mentally wrestling with his decision, he is suddenly overcome by a strange sensation. Feeling no fear or apprehension he realizes he is being transported out of his present life and time. Seemingly, in a matter of seconds, Howell has been delivered to the heart of London five years into the future and with absolutely no indication of what his new existence encompasses.
