The Ebony Bed Murder

About this book

Griffin Scott is an advertising executive with a passion for detection - and Gillmore, the journalist and author, is thrilled to be allowed to accompany Scott as he assists the police in solving a baffling murder. Helen Brill Kent, famed society beauty, has been shot in her New York apartment. Having quashed the official theory of suicide, Scott sets about determining who might have had a motive for doing away with Kent. Along the way, he faces gangsters, corrupt politicians and a stream of disenchanted ex-husbands, before finally uncovering the shocking truth... Originally published in 1932, Rufus Gillmore's final novel draws on the 'rules' of detection laid down by S.S. Van Dine to create an enjoyable and fiendishly clever mystery, which will delight all fans of vintage American crime fiction.
