About this book
Mr. White was born in Chapel Hill, NC during the Civil War. His autobiography provides a solid look at the social, economic and cultural aspects of the South from the end of the Civil War until 1939. He was on the faculty at Princeton for several years. Very well written and valuable book for North Carolinians to read for history of that era.
