The energetic level of behavior (ELB), to which the regulative theory of temperament refers (Strelau, 1983, 1985), may be expressed in the intensity or magnitude of reactions (responses) to stimuli of given intensity or in the degree of effective functioning under stress, that is, under stimulation of extreme value: overstimulation or deprivation (Strelau, 1988).
